Renewable Rewards is a scheme designed to help support customers reduce their carbon footprint. Customers with Solar PV, small wind turbines, small hydro power or biomass schemes under 10KW capacity can receive benefits for their generation.
Ecotricity will pay you 9p for every unit (kWh) of electricity you generate. In return, you supply Ecotricity with the ROCs awarded to you by OFGEM on an annual basis.
There are three main steps you need to take. And they are:
1. You need to be a customer of Ecotricity
If you are not already an Ecotricity customer you will need to signup in order to join Renewable Rewards. That only takes five minutes and you can do
it here and now. Switch now
2. You will need OFGEM accreditation
Not as bad as it might sound because we can help sort this for you - by acting as your agent. As part of this accreditation, you will need an OFGEM approved meter fitted to your generator - we have a list of approved meters to help you.
3.You need to obtain the agreement of your local distribution company for the connection of your renewable generator to the local grid
Your generation equipment installer, or supplier, should be able to help you with this. It's pretty standard stuff.
You may already have undertaken steps 2 and 3 if your scheme is already up and running. That just makes it easier.
